Policies for families
Photos of your child
We ask your written permission before we share any photo of your child, on this site, in newsletters or on social media, and you can change your answer at any time. We never put a child's name with a photo, and the photos on this site are examples until we replace them with our own.
When to keep your child home
A student with a fever, a cough that keeps them from playing or a stomach bug stays home until they are well. Call or text the school, and your teacher sends the week's part.
Closures for weather and holidays
We close for major holidays and for storms that make travel difficult. We text every family before the first class of the day.
Drop-off and pickup
Students under twelve are collected by a parent or by a person you have named to the school, and we ask for ID from anyone we don't know. Older students may leave on their own with a parent's written note.
Late pickup
If you will be late, call or text the school. A teacher stays with the student until you arrive, and we talk about it at pickup, not in front of the group.
Watching class and recitals
Families are welcome to sit at the back of the pan room for a first class and on open rehearsal days. On concert and parade days, seats fill from the front, and we ask everyone to keep phones down while the band plays.
Screens and phones
Phones stay in bags while the band plays, so everyone can hear the count. A teacher may record a part for practice, only with the permission of the player or a parent.
What to wear and bring
Wear closed shoes and clothes that let your arms move. On concert and parade days players wear plain black, with the band's sash from the school.
